Authentication and verification on any device

Identity verification, card activation, PIN change, step-up authentication and KYC, on consumer and merchant devices.

On the consumer's device

Card lifecycle and identity checks with a tap of the card on the cardholder's own phone.

Tap to Activate

Cardholders activate a new card by tapping it on their own phone. No branch, ATM or phone call.

PIN Change

Cardholders change their PIN securely in your banking or wallet app. No ATM or branch visit.

Step-Up Authentication

A card tap adds a hardware-backed possession factor that meets PSD2 SCA, and is harder to intercept or phish than an OTP or password.

Tap to Verify

A contactless card tap verifies identity in digital onboarding, account recovery and other high-risk flows.

KYC & Identity

A physical card tap is a strong identity signal for KYC and onboarding, backed by cryptographic proof of possession.

See it in action

Tap to Pay on Own Device — consumer authentication for online shopping.

Consumer device authentication

On the merchant's device

Authentication and verification on merchant-operated hardware and SoftPOS devices.

Transit & ticket inspection

Card tap for transit validation and event ticket inspection on merchant devices.

In-branch verification

Verify identity and authenticate cards in branch, on NFC-enabled devices.

Tap to Confirm

A card tap on the merchant's device confirms the cardholder's intent before a high-value operation.

Regulatory compliance — PSD2 and beyond

PSD2/SCA — current framework (in force)

Card-tap step-up authentication meets the “possession” factor of PSD2 Strong Customer Authentication. Existing integrations need no changes.

PSD3/PSR — the next framework

PSD3 and PSR are agreed in principle; dates and transition are not yet final. Card possession, PIN, biometric and hardware-backed proof map directly to the new framework, and we expect no architectural changes to integrations.
