Mobile World Congress

The World’s Largest Gathering for the Mobile Industry

Mobile World Congress 2018 once again took place at Fira Gran Via, Barcelona last week and what an amazing few days it was! Mobile World Congress is a showcase of incredible technology and ideas.

This year, the focus was on ‘creating a better future, today’ with an impressive agenda including product launches, important announcements and an impressive list of guest speakers.

What the mobile industry does has a significant impact on retailers and innovative technological advances hold the key to the future of card payments. Ingenico’s hugely popular stand at MWC18 introduced some fantastic demos of Mobile POS; which have been developed to enhance and expand the current mPOS market offering and to meet the ongoing demand for increased card acceptance points across the globe.

During the well-attended Visa Summit presentations, a large emphasis was on PIN on Mobile and how this latest development in payments will have a positive impact on businesses.

The panel discussed the fact that around 1.5 million businesses are started globally each year, and within the next 5 years there will be an estimated 460million places to buy. These businesses will be looking for cheaper, alternatives to traditional mPOS devices, and PIN on Mobile in particular, will allow them to accept card payments where perhaps they couldn’t before.

Creating a Better Future, Today

Over 4 busy days at MWC, visitors experienced how mobile-connected products and services are creating a better future for citizens and businesses around the world. As we reflect on the cutting-edge mobile enabled products and services in the world today, we can already look forward to future advances. PIN on Mobile is a significant development and is poised to radically transform the payments world in 2018.
