European Payments Events
Our Head of Marketing, Nigel Dean, had a busy February attending both Merchant Payment Ecosystem (MPE) and Mobile World Congress (MWC) in quick succession. Here, we explore the key takeaways from both events.
Merchant Payment Ecosystem 2019
Hosted in Berlin, the MPE conference and exhibition has built a solid reputation over the last 11 years as one of the core events in the payments event calendar. Attended by 1000s of professionals, the three-day event helps decision makers, stakeholders and other interested parties shape and drive the payments ecosystem.
Mobile World Congress
From Berlin to Barcelona! Payments professionals headed to MWC, the largest mobile event in the world that brings together the latest innovations and leading-edge technology from more than 2,400 leading companies to discuss the hottest topics influencing the industry.
So, what were the key takeaways from this year’s events?
PIN on Mobile
PIN on Mobile was a hot topic at MPE in relation to the NextGen POS stream. Numerous restaurant chains in the audience were interested to hear how PIN on Mobile could improve their customer offering and revolutionise and increase merchant card acceptance.
The MPE audience also took away a clear understanding of the differences between PIN on Mobile and PIN on Glass – a classification which still causes confusion in the industry.
MWC saw a significant increase in delegates from the banking space as mobile payment platforms become ever more integrated into the sector. Card schemes demonstrated numerous mobile based payment methods and were extremely interested in MYPINPAD’s progress with our SPoC certification, and working in close proximity to the PCI.
The MYPINPAD platform was also showcased on the Ingenico stand, demonstrating the implementation of PIN on Mobile. Keep an eye on our blog section throughout 2019 to keep up to date with our latest innovative developments.
