Fiji & Pacific Economies to leverage MYPINPAD technology, in partnership with Solta Labs to grow micro and small business sector in post pandemic phase

Global leader in software-based payment solutions, MYPINPAD, announces partnership with payment service provider Solta Labs to provide micro and small business sector with low-cost payment acceptance solutions in Fiji, Wider Pacific Islands and New Zealand.

15th March 2022, CARDIFF: MYPINPAD, a global leader in software-based payment solutions, today announces a new partnership with New Zealand based Payment Service Provider, Solta Labs to support Mastercard and government-backed initiatives announced in 2021 aimed to restore businesses affected by the pandemic and grow micro and SMB sectors in the Pacific Region.

Solta Labs, an established payment service provider with clients in the Pacific Region, will integrate MYPINPAD’s PCI certified CPoC Software (SoftPOS) technology, allowing its clients in Fiji, Pacific Islands and New Zealand to accept card payments directly on their commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) Android devices, thereby reducing barriers by removing the need for any additional expensive specific payment hardware.

One of the biggest impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic has been a transition away from cash to contactless payment. Growing acceptance in micro and small business, to meet the demands of the restarted tourism market who in the past used to default to payment by cash, now need to accept card payments but in a convenient and low-cost method. That’s exactly what mobile payment on COTS was designed for.

Morten Hofstad, Head of Asia Pacific at MYPINPAD comments on the partnership: “MYPINPAD was the world’s first company to achieve the PCI CPoC (Contactless Payments on COTS) accreditation, and we are delighted to partner with Solta Labs to be the first to deliver a PCI-approved SoftPOS solution to Fiji, Pacific Islands and New Zealand.”

Mark Povey, CEO at Solta Labs said: “We have been working with our partner Fintech Pacific to deliver a new and innovative SoftPOS payment solution to the Fijians to help them kickstart their business in a post pandemic tourism market. Our team at Solta have developed Cloud services to support the MYPINPAD solution and enable connections to various payment gateways and service providers.”
